Plum Films announces their new CBeebies commission “Roots & Fruits” …
… a cherry picked variety show featuring a host of talented fruit and veg that are destined to be top of the bill (or your shopping list)!
We’re very proud to present ROOTS & FRUITS, a brand-new musical variety show starring the finest, most talented fruit and veggies from across the globe.
Commissioned for BBC Children’s channel CBeebies and supported by Screen Scotland, ROOTS & FRUITS is a fresh, organic new series providing your ultimate five (minutes) a day, packed full of fascinating, fun facts, exclusive interviews and unforgettable performances live on stage from the Roots & Fruits theatre.
From a rapping raspberry and beat-boxing brussels sprout to a rock-star parsley, each episode cherry-picks a new guest star as they reveal their special talents.
Created by Plum Films’ director Micky MacPherson and children’s writer Bar Ben-Yossef, the show introduces us to the world of ROOTS & FRUITS with aims to inspire children from nought to six years to build a positive connection with fruits and veggies from all over the world through catchy songs, fascinating fun facts and magnificent performances.
From the cast and crew, to our special guest stars, all are brought to life in this sparkling, new musical comedy series hosted by the lovable Pak Choi, and featuring exclusive backstage interviews from the enthusiastic Kiwi, who always manages to squeeze a juicy fact from the show’s natural-born stars.
Featuring the voice talents of Laura Main as Pak Choi (‘Call the Midwife’) and comedian and family favourite Joe Pasquale as Coconut, ROOTS & FRUITS was produced from Plum’s base in Edinburgh. The producers teamed up with Interference Pattern to animate the characters, and composers Philip Curran and LA based Elada Guetta to provide the songs and soundtrack.
Head Writer Bar Ben-Yossef oversaw a talented team of writers on the show, with Micky MacPherson leading the creative team. He said “we’re delighted to bring ROOTS & FRUITS to life for CBeebies.
